# Release notes

## V1.25.0

### Unified Settings and System configuration

**Settings** and **System Configuration** options are now unified in one place for easy access.

<figure><img src="/files/ARbuApquGwahAzjhQWgv" alt=""><figcaption><p>Settings menu simplified</p></figcaption></figure>

### Archive a Zone from its own button

When you edit a Zone **Active** and **Planned** now automatically follow the start and end dates you set, as described in [V1.19.0](#v1.19.0). If you need to Archive a Zone simply click on the **Archive** button on the lower left while editing a zone.

<figure><img src="/files/FTgv7mObMkVDwxHwFryS" alt=""><figcaption><p>Archiving a Zone</p></figcaption></figure>

### Bug fixes

* Editing an Insight that has no criticality set no longer fails to save
* Deliveries still in progress should be visible again in the timeline
* Opening a Case from the list now moves the map to that Case
* Changing the Delivery date on the timeline keeps the map on the Case you are reading
* With **All** selected, ChronoScout loads imagery from the most recent completed Delivery rather than whichever one arrived first

## V1.24.0

### Closed cases are hidden by default and your filter preferences are remembered

The Case list now hides closed cases by default, so you can focus on the ones that still need attention. You can change this at any time from the filters section. Your filter preferences are kept on your device for next time, and they do not affect your colleagues, so everyone can set them up around their own workflow.

<figure><img src="/files/JlpmhNOBJCCANqxS0Wlu" alt=""><figcaption><p>Default Case Status selection</p></figcaption></figure>

### See when ChronoScout imagery was taken

ChronoScout imagery is put together from several satellite images that we used to monitor the asset. Hover over the imagery and SurfaceScout now shows the date of the image under your cursor, so you know which day you are actually looking at.

<figure><img src="/files/K5DXb3WvQdzzK1y2EboD" alt=""><figcaption><p>Image date shown on hover</p></figcaption></figure>

### Search and filter the Zones list

The Zones list now has its own filter menu, and the search bar at the top left works across both tabs. Search a Zone by name or location, then narrow the list down by status or date range.

<figure><img src="/files/oUrSYtWhXqaq8Yi1qV2N" alt=""><figcaption><p>Filtering the Zones list</p></figcaption></figure>

### Active Zones offered wherever you add a manual insight

[V1.22.0](#v1.22.0) introduced linking a manual insight to a Zone. You now get that choice in both places where insights are created: clicking the map, and adding an insight from your photos. See [add a manual insight](/surfacescout/review-cases/add-a-manual-insight.md) for the full flow.

<figure><img src="/files/cSjdt2wR9fsZTCmrlded" alt=""><figcaption><p>Choosing an Active Zone for a manual insight</p></figcaption></figure>

### Cleaner view for single-image insights

Not every insight comes with a "before" and an "after" image. For these types of insights the viewer panel has a more streamlined user interface.

<figure><img src="/files/zgvT3o6z8ancu5LwMyhL" alt=""><figcaption><p>An insight with a single image</p></figcaption></figure>

### Copy coordinates from the map

Click anywhere on the map and you can now copy the coordinates with the icon beside them. Useful when you need to send a location to a field team or paste it into another system.

<figure><img src="/files/C9wcrnUhhaAfvAQ9b8Do" alt=""><figcaption><p>Copying coordinates from the map</p></figcaption></figure>

### Bug fixes

* The date range is checked when you create or edit a Zone, so an end date can no longer sit before its start date
* While Zone details are open the timeline stays available, including the **All** option, just as it does for Case details
* Mobile: fixed the Cases and Zones tab counts on Safari
* Fixed the Monitoring / Asset Coverage switch icon sizes to match the rest of the header

## V1.23.0

### Insight map zoom matches the image

When you open an insight, the map now zooms to the same scale as the insight image beside it, so both show you the same piece of ground at the same size.

## V1.22.0

### Asset sections on Cases and Zones

Following the introduction of section and kilometer-point display in [V1.14.1](#v1.14.1), Cases and Zones are now section-aware. Each Case and Zone shows the asset section it belongs to, and sections can be assigned to Cases and Zones so field teams can immediately understand where an item sits along the asset and route it to the right responder.

<figure><img src="/files/ICoVkZIQbj890sxebwHl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Link a manual insight to a Case or a Zone

When you add a manual insight, you can now attach it either to an existing **Case** or directly to a **Zone**. This makes reporting from the field faster when your observation belongs inside a land inquiry you are already tracking, and it keeps all Zone-related evidence in one place. See [add a manual insight](/surfacescout/review-cases/add-a-manual-insight.md) for the updated flow.

### Daily digest for Zones with new insights

Zone owners can now subscribe to a **daily digest** for Zones with new insights. Instead of receiving a notification every time an insight is logged inside a Zone, you get one consolidated summary per day — ideal for high-volume Zones and busy inboxes. Stay tuned, for our next release you will be able to decide to be notified on not

<figure><img src="/files/DHNuRIYKztfBQOyjOndc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### French language available in the app :flag\_fr:

SurfaceScout is now available in **French**, in addition to English, German, Spanish and Indonesian. Ask your Customer Success Manager to enable it for your users.

### Bug fixes

* Case list no longer hardcodes a default filter — the view now respects your actual filter selection
* Map preserves your current zoom level when creating a Zone from a Case (previously reset to the overall view)
* Mobile: the timeline is anchored to the top of the drawer, and the ChronoScout button is restored on the Cases list
* Auto-invites for internal admins now work correctly, including for users that already exist in another organization

## V1.21.0

### Combined deliveries

As part of building a virtual constellation from dozens of satellites, the asset coverage tracker now lets you visualise different coverage areas over your asset by source and constellation, making it easier to trace and verify your data origins.

<figure><img src="/files/jyDH1w99z8co1BbgGocv" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## V1.20.0

### ChronoScout full corridor mode

<figure><img src="/files/yd9vX3HzA0KUXwgHsJwF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

It is now possible to view satellite imagery across the full inspection corridor, directly alongside your asset. This gives you more context when reviewing cases and helps you understand what happened around the pipeline beyond a single case location.

When ChronoScout imagery is available for a delivery, a small satellite icon appears above the date in the timeline. Simply select the date and activate the satellite button to display the imagery.

<figure><img src="/files/Q1wXKddLH4ypBSIMrUKo" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

*Pro tip*: hold the *Shift* key to temporarily hide map overlays and get a clearer view of the satellite imagery.

### **Bug fixes**

* Case map navigation now works independently from ChronoScout being enabled or disabled
* Add Insight popover is now better positioned when working from Zone details
* Long Zone names are now shortened in the Zone list for better readability
* Zone details now display linked insight activity, map polygons, and insight popups more reliably
* Zone activity logs now support all expected activity types

## V1.19.0

### Land inquiry management

SurfaceScout now allows users to create and manage land inquiries, known as **"Zones."**\
Zones can be created manually by either drawing them directly in the application or importing a GeoJSON file using the tools available in the top-right corner of the page.

<figure><img src="/files/YLAwBF3zLyWB5C1mvxYj" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Zones can also be created programmatically using the SurfaceScout API. Each Zone can contain the following information:

* Date Range
  * Defines the period during which the land inquiry is active. For example, a construction project running from **June 15th to September 15th**.
* Status
  * **Planned** – The project has not started yet. No insights are associated with the Zone.
  * **Active** – The project is underway. Insights logged in SurfaceScout are associated with the Zone.
  * **Archived** – The Zone can no longer be modified, and new insights are no longer associated with it.

In a future release, we will introduce:

* **Contact details**, allowing users to store information about the construction company or organization associated with the Zone.
* **Notifications**, enabling users to receive alerts whenever a new insight is logged within a Zone.

**Important Note:** Once a Zone starts receiving insights, SurfaceScout will no longer create or update Cases for the corresponding area. From that point onward, all relevant insights will be associated directly with the Zone.

<figure><img src="/files/qjXCPKocZAcmNhgmQ2Gm" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This capability enables seamless integration with ticket and work management systems such as Korterra, IRTH, and Click, etc. via API.

By leveraging Zones, organizations can visualize and manage tens of thousands of land inquiries across large geographic areas while providing additional context for the insights generated by SurfaceScout. This enriched context helps teams assess, prioritize, and determine the appropriate actions to take when new insights are detected.

## V1.18.0

### Campaign access controls in User Management

Admins and Managers now have access to user User Management section. They can invite users into SurfaceScout, assign their roles and specify campaign access.

<figure><img src="/files/1MmC7Mw4HjCIhHjSzHbf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/gvRweml6BMI7w3uQkXQz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Bug fixes

* Offline mode now only applies in the installed PWA and can be exited from the web app
* Switching campaigns clears stale insight filters and restores previously hidden ones
* PDF reports now include all active filters and show distance to asset in meters
* Asset Coverage no longer opens in an overly zoomed-out view
* Various stability fixes for offline mode, ChronoScout map transforms, and Mapbox GL layer handling

## V1.17.0

### Offline mode (Beta)

Work in SurfaceScout even when you have no internet in remote areas, using a copy of one campaign you downloaded earlier on this device. Offline mode is designed to work on SurfaceScout mobile version. Before you go offline: open Settings → Offline, choose one campaign, tap Download for Offline, and wait until it finishes (keep the app open; don’t send it to the background until the download completes).

<figure><img src="/files/y8Sp2JoMSEd8xCBu2rw1" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Space on your phone or computer: the app shows an approximate download size; you need enough free storage for that package. The browser may also treat this data as “normal” website storage, so very full devices can run into problems.

What to expect: you can review cases and insights from that snapshot; when you’re online again, sync to get updates and send changes you made offline.

<figure><img src="/files/om9gMQISSNVOMKqA026D" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Limits as of right now: only one offline campaign at a time; exports and some online-only menu items (e.g. switching campaigns, feedback, logout) aren’t available while you’re fully offline. Some iOS versions might not be compatible.

### Filter insights by distance to your pipeline centerline

It is now possible to filter insights by distance to the pipeline centerline in your filter menu to identify what matters to you !

<figure><img src="/files/r4DSGwnYcEbnTd2MoxLW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Insight PDF Export

You can now generate a printable Insights report from the Cases view: use Export PDF Report in the export menu; it opens a dedicated report page in a new tab.

<figure><img src="/files/aaTLNLd2n3wd7wvgbjzC" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The report reflects your current filters (e.g. delivery, case status, change type) and includes an executive summary (totals, priority breakdown, change-type breakdown) plus detailed insight pages with images and metadata. The page is tuned for printing; use Print/Save as PDF in the browser to save a PDF.

<figure><img src="/files/s9hcxn23sbOLgdBz6EWC" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## V1.6.0

### Feature :tada: - Real satellite imagery available in SurfaceScout for all our users - Chronoscout is out

For the past two years, SurfaceScout has helped pipeline operators uncover hidden threats. With the debut of ChronoScout, we’re elevating traceability, compliance, and actionable insights to an entirely new level.

<figure><img src="/files/mskLJEzs1L7WBcluV8Em" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Higher traceability & compliance

You can now view the raw data behind the insights produced by the SurfaceScout change detection machine learning model. These satellite images not only verify that an area was monitored at the correct cadence, but can also reveal additional insights beyond the original satellite monitoring scope

#### Manual insights finally to an exchaustive geospatial context

With ChronoScout, damage prevention managers can now create manual insights from the latest satellite imagery—connected not just to GPS coordinates, but to the actual satellite data itself.

#### Larger context to faciliate Case review and mitigation

ChronoScout streamlines the review and case mitigation process by providing a much richer context. Previously, pipeline integrity managers had to make decisions from the office based on just two satellite image screenshots. Now, ChronoScout delivers five times more imagery around each case, giving managers the context they need for more informed decision-making

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/_zXymgETIHk>" %}

**Pro tip:** hide the assets and insights pressing the shift key on your keyboard for maximim visibility!

#### ChronoScout V1.0 - Known limitatations - Stay tuned!

We wanted to get ChronoScout into your hands quickly so we could gather feedback and improve fast. As this is our first release, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. **Images may not be available for every delivery:** we have them in our imagery database, but our querying mechanisms are still being refined. This will improve over time.
2. **Image date might not perfectly match the insights date:** when collecting satellite imagery, some scenes overlap. Occasionally, the wrong scene may be displayed. We’re working on tightening this matching process.
3. **Images are shown only around existing cases:** for now, you’ll only see imagery tied to known cases. Broader coverage is coming soon—stay tuned!

Your feedback will help us squash these limitations and get to a more polished version quickly.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.live-eo.com/surfacescout/release-notes.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
